Trakhees is a new organisation under Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation established to combine and streamline all licensing and permit functions within the corporation and its areas of jurisdiction. It covers commercial licensing, Civil Engineering, Building Permits and Construction Quality Monitoring as well as Environmental, Health and Safety issues.

On July 1st of 2008, the new department Trakhees nt into operation and the objective of establishing Trakhees started to materialize. PCFC, Dubai World Business Units, the Engineering Community interacting with Trakhees, and the Dubai World Communities now have a one stop shop where all their licensing and government services can be done.

Part of the new mandate is providing services to businesses, owners and tenants of the new Dubai World Communities who had little interaction with the already existing departments before. To this end, Trakhees adopted a concept of “distributed services” by having satellite Helpdesk Offices in these communities, such as Dragon Mart, Atlantis and Ibn Batuta Mall.

The Commercial Licensing Division (CLD), the youngest regulatory arm of Trakhees, is proud to announce having gained full operational status since 1st July 2008, through a record time of 7 months from concept to inception.

The first busy months witnessed a steadily growing influx of new business as new applicants queued to obtain Licenses and related Government Services, accompanied by existing business applicants which so far had been licensed by Jafza who began to transfer their licenses to Trakhees.

CLD has inaugurated their Head Quarters in the month of October within the DragonMart for its’ strategic location within one of the fastest growing Dubai World Communities, Nakheel’s International City in Al Aweer, followed by a satellite office on the outskirts of Atlantis-The Palm as an interim service centre for Palm Jumeirah businesses while preparations are completed for a new full-fledged CLD operation on The Crescent of the first Palm Island. Further offices will be established in major Dubai World Communities starting with Limitless’ DownTown Jebel Ali, and followed by other communities by Dubai World's business units Nakheel, Limitless and Istithmar as they come to life.
