Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) is the bridge between USA businesses and the world. This ministry is responsible for managing foreign relations, liaison between UAE ministries and providing services to USA entrepreneurs and the global community.
- This section explains MoFAIC’s role in business registration for US companies. When a foreign (including American) company wants to open a branch in the UAE, it needs to get all parent company documents (such as articles of association, incorporation certificate or board resolution) attested by MoFAIC in the home country and in the UAE.
- Apart from business documents, any document used as proof in the UAE (such as educational, birth or marriage certificate) needs to be attested by MoFAIC to be valid for purposes like visa processing or other official requirements.
- If an USA business or individual needs to issue a Power of Attorney (PoA) outside the UAE, it also needs to be attested by MoFAIC before it will be accepted by Dubai Courts.
- Even invoices generated in US or outside the UAE need to have the authenticity of signatures and stamps verified, both from USA and UAE authorities.
- If the UAE does not have an embassy in the concerned country, documents must be approved by the concerned country’s embassy in the UAE. If the concerned country does not have an Embassy in the UAE, documents must be notarized by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accredited to the UAE (e.g., Mauritius, Jamaica, Moldova).
