Any business from France or abroad looking to set up a manufacturing unit or convert raw materials into semi-finished or finished products will require an industrial license on the UAE Mainland. Here are the key points to understand before launching a manufacturing unit:
Obtaining an industrial license on the UAE Mainland can be a long and expensive process without professional assistance.
The first step is to select the correct business activity that aligns with your intended manufacturing purpose.
Investors must prepare a written manufacturing process plan to obtain approvals from the Planning Department, Environment Department, and Civil Defence Department.
The Ministry of Economy must also approve the industrial project.
Depending on the product type, additional approvals may be required from the Dubai Police, Drug and Narcotics Department, or Food Control Department.
A UAE national partner holding 51% of the company shares is mandatory.
Renting a warehouse facility is also required for obtaining the license.
The final industrial license is issued by the Department of Economic Development (DED).
