- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) is the official interface between German companies and the international environment of the UAE. This ministry oversees foreign relations, coordinates between UAE government departments and provides services to German entrepreneurs and the global business community.
- This section explains MoFAIC’s role in business registration for German companies. When a foreign (including German) company wants to open a branch in the UAE, it needs to have its parent company’s legal documents (such as Articles of Association, Certificate of Incorporation or Board Resolution) attested by MoFAIC in the home country and in the UAE.
- Beyond business documents, any official document used as proof in the UAE (such as educational, birth or marriage certificates) must be attested by MoFAIC to be valid for visa applications and other legal processes.
- If a German individual or company needs to issue a Power of Attorney (PoA) outside the UAE, this document must be attested by MoFAIC before it is accepted by the Dubai Courts.
- Even invoices generated in Germany or any other country outside the UAE must have their stamps and signatures verified by both German and UAE authorities to confirm authenticity.
- In cases where the UAE does not have an embassy in Germany, documents must be legalized through the German Embassy in the UAE. If Germany does not have an embassy or consulate in the UAE, the documents must be notarized by the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs accredited to the UAE.
