Setting up a branch or representative office in the UAE Mainland is a great option for German companies looking to enter the GCC region. This model allows you to operate in the UAE under your existing corporate identity, without creating a new legal entity.
A branch office is not a separate legal entity. It’s an extension of the parent company registered in Germany or any other country.
A branch can do all commercial activities of the parent company—except trading in the UAE Mainland.
A representative office is a liaison or marketing entity. It cannot do profit making or commercial transactions. Its role is to promote the parent company’s services or products in the UAE.
Both branch and representative office requires prior approval from the UAE Ministry of Economy.
Appointing a UAE national service agent is mandatory. The agent has no ownership or profit share.
A refundable bank guarantee of AED 50,000 in favour of the UAE Ministry of Economy is required as part of the licensing process.
