Women and Business in Dubai

Over the past few decades, Dubai in UAE has grown to open its arms to cultures and changes from all around the globe, with the role of women in Dubai continuing to greatly expand.

Before the 1960’s, there were fewer opportunities in business and employment for women in Dubai which has altered in the recent years as more women have entered the business world. Women in Dubai are far more educated and hungry for growth as an entrepreneur or a business woman. The growth rate of business women in Dubai continues to increase steadily, with far more opportunities in fields such as beauty parlours; retail shops; import/export of oil, dry fruits or jewelry. These types of businesses are easily constructed and managed my women in the Dubai region.

To ensure gender equality, promote opportunities and positively motivate women in Dubai to lead as business women, the the Dubai Business Women’s Council (DBWC) was launched in 2002 under Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
